About
Who We Are:
We are a community who celebrates divine Love’s universal presence and power. You will find the Gospel’s words, “God is Love,” right above our windows in our community space. Christ Jesus’ teachings and healing work are the core of our focus. We share our discoveries about how divine Love transforms our day to day experiences, and we support each other as we practice the practicality of God’s presence in our lives, including improving our community and world. Frequently Asked Questions Do Christian Scientists believe in God? Yes, Christian Scientists believe in one infinite, supreme God, who is Love. Are you the same as Scientology? No, only the names are similar. Christian Science is the set of laws relating to the nature of divine Love and the universe, including us, that can be practiced as Jesus showed. Is Christian Science based on the Bible? Yes. Christian Science is based on the inspired word of the Bible. The pastor of Christian Science is the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. These two books are read at our services. Mary Baker Eddy established the Church of Christ, Scientist, "to commemorate the words and works of Christ Jesus." Do Christian Scientists refuse to use drugs or see doctors? Generally, a Christian Scientist’s first choice is to rely on prayer and specific Christian Science treatment for healing, and in most cases, this means that a medical remedy is unnecessary. There is no biblical or church mandate to forgo medical intervention. Students of Christian Science do not believe that it’s God’s will that anyone suffer or die. A decision to rely on God comes from a conviction that Divine Love’s care continues under every circumstance. There are regular testimonies of healing in every weekly Christian Science Sentinel, monthly Journal, quarterly Herald, and weekly testimony meetings on Wednesdays in every church, society, and informal group around the world. What is a Christian Science practitioner? These are folks who devote themselves full time to the practice of Christian Science, helping others experience healing as shown to us by Jesus. You do not need to be a member to contact one. By the way, they are self-employed. Fees and payment should be discussed prior to engaging their services. Here is a link to a list of practitioners: |
